A man is a fool to trust himself! But those who use God’s wisdom are safe. Proverbs 28:26 (TLB)
At some point in our lives, we have all either thought or said that we trust no one but ourselves! In effect, there is an air of superiority in our knowledge and ability as opposed to others! Somehow, living with ourselves gives us a sense of confidence in believing that we are capable of controlling what we will and will not do! However, given what seems to be the right set of circumstances we can be pushed beyond our limits thereby causing us to cave under pressure! As a result, we begin to make choices and decisions that are not in our best interest! When we do, we play right into the devil’s hand, because we have assumed a role that was never ours! In essence, we have chosen to be our own god! Sometimes, even as believers, we are guilty of lording our own lives and not allowing the one who created us to be in complete control! When we do, we sacrifice the knowledge He has to guide our lives along the right path while protecting us from danger! As such, if we are going to live this life professing that we believe in Jesus Christ, we must learn to trust Him! So, we must banish thoughts that we trust no one, but acknowledge our trust for the only one who knows all about us!
